MEDITATION

In the early hush of morning, before the arrival of visitors, I walked alone among the ancient stones at Avebury in Wiltshire. The Druid Stone, vast and imposing, stood like a sentinel over the surrounding land. I moved slowly around its weathered form, considering how best to frame its rough edges and scarred surface, when something quietly revealed itself. Seated behind the monolith was a woman, her presence so closely aligned with the stone that she seemed almost absorbed by it. She sat in meditation, still and composed, her face resting gently against the rock as if listening. In that moment, the boundary between human and stone felt blurred, her calm presence echoing the endurance of a place shaped over thousands of years.
