BRUGES - fine art photography prints

He, the man, is lost in the haze of chemicals, experiencing the world in a different place, removed from the reality of which I photographed.
 
 
In the heart of Bruges, with the Christmas markets bustling in the centre of the town, I find myself desperate to escape the throngs of shoppers. So, as I often do, I slipped away, weaving my way through the labyrinth of back streets, looking for that one elusive bright moment. Eventually as I turn a corner my eyes lock onto a scene. Something about the perspective catches my attention. But it's a lone figure on a bench that truly draws my focus. A hooded man, slouched, almost swallowed by the space around him, stares blankly at the water. He raises a cigarette to his lips, inhales deeply, grabs a bottle of Belgian beer, drinking from it. His arms drop heavily back into his lap, as if they've lost all strength, his body slack. The subtle signs are there, he's lost in his own haze, too far gone to care about the world. The photograph may have captured a moment in Bruges, but its not the same moment he was experiencing or will remember.
