DETACHED - fine art photography prints

Not concerned with the relics of war, she’s seen it all before.  She was on her way to something much more important.
 
The River Medway is home to a Russian submarine, once a vessel of shadowy power, now moored up and rusting away, a ghost of bygone era. Defended by the remnants of concrete "dragon's teeth”, tank traps from World War II, jagged and immovable against the backdrop of the river's steady flow. These harsh, raw elements of history were before me and I had come here to capture them in black and white. But as I took a few frames I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. The landscape was static, too still, like a place in deep freeze and devoid of a pulse. I needed a spark, something to breathe energy into it. Then, she appeared. Unbothered by the wind that whipped along the towpath, she walked with purpose, her steps unbroken, as if the weight of history beside her didn’t exist. She was wrapped up in her own world, with matters far more pressing than the remnants of the past.
