DUNE - fine art photography prints

A testament to those very moments that can so easily slip away from us. Like the shifting of sand, maybe unnoticed, maybe captured.
 
The Outer Banks, North Carolina, and the golden rays of the setting sun bathe the bleached sands of the dunes. Long dark shadows filling the undulating landscape in hues of soft amber and dusky violet. However, by not rendering the image in colour, but in tones of black & white, I invite participation in painting the colours within your imagination -  creating infinite variations and versions. 
 
Perhaps it’s a touch self-indulgent to include my own outline in a photograph, but in this frame, my silhouette is more than just a shadow on the scene, it’s the key to unlocking the magnificence before me. Without it, the scale of the dunes would difficult to comprehend for the viewer. My shadow anchors the composition, grounding it in the physical world. Remove me from the frame, and the grandeur of the landscape would be harder to grasp. Take me away, and this photograph wouldn’t exist at all. It was in this precise moment when the image came to life.
