LIGHTHOUSE - fine art photography prints

With erosion continuing at a steady pace, another move is expected. A record of where it stands in our ever-changing environment.
 
Perched atop the dramatic cliffs of the South Downs, proudly stands Belle Tout against the sweeping coastal landscape of East Sussex. However, this is not its original location. In 1999, due to severe coastal erosion, the 850-ton structure was carefully relocated 17 meters inland from the cliff edge. With erosion continuing at a steady pace, at the time another move was expected within the next 25 years. I wanted to capture this moment in the lighthouse’s journey; a record of where it stood in 2022, in our ever-evolving environment. Maybe in years to come others will look back at this photograph and see stark changes to our world.
 
Now do the maths:- relocated in 1999, expected to move again in the next 25 years = 2024. This book was first published in 2025, and the lighthouse remains on the edge time and still in its location.
