ENTANGLE

Among the beech trees at Hollyhill, I moved slowly, tracing the exposed roots as they twisted and folded back into the earth. Working digitally at first, the images felt restless, unable to settle. I changed approach and turned to a black and white film camera. The pace shifted immediately. Without instant response, attention slowed and each frame required intent. The trees revealed themselves not as a single subject, but as a study in time, their growth measured in decades rather than moments, invisible yet etched clearly into form. This was not something to be held in one image. Instead, it emerged as a sequence, a quiet movement in and out of light and shadow, allowing the complexity of their entanglement to unfold.
