GOSSIP

While walking through the Suffolk town of Southwold, I was looking for a way to photograph the lighthouse that rises quietly from the centre of the town. From street level it was difficult to isolate, hemmed in by houses and narrow roads. Then a small gap opened between buildings, offering a partial view of the tower lifting above the rooftops. What held my attention, though, was what unfolded beside it. To my left, a small group of locals had gathered, leaning into conversation across a garden wall, absorbed and unhurried. Their exchange felt inseparable from the place itself, the kind of everyday ritual that unfolds where life moves at a slower pace and familiarity runs deep. The lighthouse stood watch in the background, while the real activity played out below.
