PARADOX

Electric blue and claret red feel like unlikely companions within a palette drawn from the natural world. Yet this was the contradiction I encountered at low tide on Loch Carron.

Bathed in sunlight, the kelp-strewn shoreline revealed a golden richness against darker, heavier tones beyond, offering an abundance of colour, texture, and light that asked little more of the photographer than to receive.

It was the intrusion of competing colour from the boat that held me. Out of context, faintly jarring, undeniably misplaced, it asserted itself as the centre of the visual narrative. What did not belong became essential, altering the quiet order of things.
